On ‘Late Night,’ Paul McCartney Looks Back at Days Gone By

Jimmy Fallon, that lucky old so-and-so, just gets all the best classic-rock guests, doesn’t he? On Thursday’s “Late Night,” the exuberant Mr. Fallon played host to Paul McCartney (who’s also the musical guest this weekend on “Saturday Night Live”), and some how convinced the ex-Beatle to perform, in its first-ever live broadcast, a version of “Yesterday” using its original place-holder lyrics. (We suspect that some of these are historically accurate and others more fanciful.)
But Mr. McCartney’s appearance wasn’t played entirely for laughs: in the clip below he performs his song “Here Today,” written in tribute to John Lennon, and in this instance coming the day after the 30th anniversary of his former bandmate’s death:
