James First LP And YouTube Channel

from http://www.jamesmccartney.com/

'Available Light’ is the first official release by singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist James McCartney. The 5 track EP showcases James’s talent as both a performer and songwriter in his own right.

The EP includes four original songs composed by James as well as a cover of Neil Young’s classic ‘Old Man’, which James has put his own unique stamp on. As well as composing the songs James shows his musical accomplishments by playing electric guitars, acoustic guitars, mandolin, piano and bass on all the songs. James previewed tracks from ‘Available Light’ when he toured the UK earlier this year winning excellent reviews across the country in the process.

Talking about his music James says, "The music was inspired by The Beatles, Nirvana, The Cure, PJ Harvey, Radiohead - and all good music. It is basically rock n' roll, clean sounding and vocal. The words on the album refer to spirituality, love, family, trying to sort out one's life, and many other things. I have written the songs over a 10-year period."

Produced by David Kahne and Paul McCartney, the EP was recorded between Sussex, London and New York over the last year.

Releasing Worldwide September 21st, 2010 on Engine Company Records. iTunes Pre-Order Begins September 7, 2010

Paul McCartney's son to release first EPJames McCartney announces debut, recorded at Abbey Road and produced by his father

Debut release ... James McCartney
James McCartney, son of Paul, has announced his first record. The 33-year-old singer-songwriter, who has played sporadic gigs over the last year, will release his debut EP later this month, with an album reportedly to follow.
The songs on McCartney's Available Light EP were written over the last 10 years and recorded, naturally, at Abbey Road. James's father produced the EP with help from David Kahne, who recorded the Strokes' First Impressions of Earth and Paul's own album, Memory Almost Full.
Available Light includes four original songs plus a track called Old Man. This is not a meditation on McCartney senior, but rather a cover of Neil Young's Harvest classic. "The music was inspired by the Beatles, Nirvana, the Cure, PJ Harvey, Radiohead, and all good music," James said, perhaps suggesting a secret hatred of Wings. He plays electric and acoustic guitars, mandolin, piano and bass. Although this is McCartney's first album, he has previously toured as part of his father's backing band and guested on several of the Beatle's solo outings, even co-writing songs?.

"The words on the album refer to spirituality, love, family, trying to sort out one's life, and many other things," James explained. Although this may sound banal, it's worth remembering that one of the greatest songs of all time, written by his father, is about holding someone's hand.

Available Light EP is out on 21 September.
