The School of American Ballet’s Winter Ball, held Monday night at Lincoln Center and sponsored by Van Cleef & Arpels, was injected with a quick shot of star power when Sir Paul McCartney arrived with girlfriend Nancy Shevell. The Beatle, who snuck in unnoticed, blended into the crowd of uptown socialites for about three seconds. Soon enough photographers got wind of his presence and started snapping away. The excitement was understandable since McCartney doesn’t often pop up at ballet benefits. So what brought him to this one? “I don’t really have an answer for that. I’m just here,” he said before posing for photos with Peter Martins.

McCartney and Shevell scooted out shortly thereafter to catch a flight to London. The rest of the crowd, including Fé Fendi, Coralie Charriol Paul and Ari and Coco Kopelman, sat for an elegant dinner catered by Danny Meyers’ Hudson Yards and a performance by the school’s students.

The School Of American Ballet held their annual Winter Ball yesterday evening at Lincoln Center. Kelly Rutherford, Alexandra Lebenthal, Stacey Bendet, Al Roker, Cynthia Rowley, Deborah RobertsF, Fe Fendi, Gillian Miniter, Pamela Joyner, and of course, Sir Paul McCartney, were among the notable guests.-

Following dessert and cocktails at the David H. Koch Theater in Lincoln Center, guests hit the dance floor. If Kelly Rutherford was intimidated by the prospect of dancing in front of some of the best trained ballet dancers in the US, she didn't let that stop her from twirling around Van Cleef & Arpel's Nicholas Luchsinger.

In the main foyer, models showing off Van Cleef & Arpel's jewels stood on the main staircase, staring wistfully at, but not partaking in, the celebrations below.

Paul looks really nice in these photos -- very youthful and happy!
