Stella McCartney Sales Soar

Stella McCartney has reported a 19 per cent rise in sales in 2011. In the fiscal year ended December 31, the company's total sales rose to £21 million, with profits climbing 0.5 per cent to £2.9 million.
The figures come as the brand continues to expand worldwide, but do not take into account turnover from Stella McCartney stores outside the UK. The label, which is jointly owned by McCartney and PPR, currently boasts 20 freestanding stores and 25 in-store concessions worldwide.
"It's been very balanced," said Frederick Lukoff, president and CEO of the company, reports WWD. "We're still growing healthily, although we're remaining vigilant about the external environment. There is room to grow and we are optimistic."
In August, the brand opened its first directly-operated store in China - in Shanghai - which will be followed with a second at the end of December, in Beijing's new Parkview Green shopping mall. McCartney's second fragrance, L.I.L.Y, is due to launch in the US next week with a personal appearance from the designer.
